About
Lucy Wood is the critically acclaimed author of Diving Belles (Bloomsbury 2012) a collection of short stories based on Cornish folklore, Weathering (Bloomsbury 2015) a novel about mothers, daughters and ghosts, and The Sing of the Shore (4th Estate 2018) a collection of stories about coastal hauntings. Her books have been translated and published in Germany, Japan and the US.
She has been longlisted for the Dylan Thomas Prize and the Dublin Literary Award, shortlisted twice for the Edge Hill Prize and was runner-up in the BBC National Short Story Award. She has also received a Betty Trask Award, a Somerset Maugham Award and a Holyer an Gof Award. Her short story ‘Flotsam, Jetsam, Lagan, Derelict’ was selected for The Penguin Book of the Contemporary British Short Story and Weathering was named in The New York Times’ 100 Notable Books of 2016.
She has had stories broadcast on BBC Radio 4 and articles, interviews and reviews published in newspapers and magazines including The TLS, The Guardian and The Independent. She has been a judge for the Writers’ and Artists’ short story prize and was an editor for the COP30 climate poetry anthology We are the Possible in association with the Met Office. She has taken part in many readings and events, such as the Edinburgh International Book Festival, The Arvon Foundation and Small Wonder festival at Charleston House. She lives in Cornwall.

Alongside her writing, Lucy Wood offers editing and manuscript consultation for writers, with a particular focus on literary fiction, landscape writing in both fiction and non-fiction, and short stories.
She is an experienced reader and editor and loves the opportunity to work with writers on their manuscripts, helping to develop them to their full potential.
